In 1981, SDB Contracting Services landed a small office renovation job for Motorola, Inc. Throughout the renovation, SDB recognized the intensive construction requirements of this market type and focused their resources in the cleanroom manufacturing environment. Today, SDB remains committed to the same clients that they built partnerships with in the beginning as well as many new clients. It was through this experience in the high-tech industry — where safety was paramount — that SDB built their reputation in mission-critical, occupied environments.
SDB went on to become The Valley’s Most Recognized Cleanroom Contractor, five years in a row (Ranking Arizona Business Magazine) working for clients such as Motorola, STMicroelectronics, On-Semiconductor, Rodel Corporation and the world’s largest chip manufacturer. SDB’s work as an Arizona contracting services provider has continuously set them apart. SDB has performed projects ranging from complete new fabrication facilities — such as Motorola’s MOS 21M, an $80 million, 40,000 square foot, class 10 cleanroom — to modest $100 door hardware repairs.
It was through this experience that the firm developed a foundation of proactively identifying solutions and making the job of the facility or building owner easier. This innovative work earned them their reputation as a true partner. Many can claim to be a partner but SDB has proven, under the most challenging and complex projects, that they are true partners. Dallas County has a wide variety of demanding clients which include the Sheriff’s Department, the County Clerk and the Judicial Courts to name a few. The SDB staff has consistently presented themselves in a professional manner and this is appreciated by the officers, judges and myself.
Over the past several years SDB has consistently been a strong competitor offering sound value to the projects they have been awarded through careful planning and execution of the work. I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation to SDB for their quick response to the city water main break at the Community Services Building…went above and beyond that day in restoring water to the building…they are very dedicated workers and truly appreciate their effort.
SDB worked well with the City throughout change order requests. They were able to negotiate the price and worked as a team with the City to accomplish the additional client department requests. We really think they performed well as the JOC partner and treated this project as a team effort.
SDB has great Project Managers and Supervisors. They are hands-on Supervisors. SDB’s subcontractors are the best. They are very park friendly and put our customers first. Their work is top rated!
The CAP team enjoyed working with SDB and Rosendin on this project, they were easy to work with, did a nice job, and finished on time. They had a challenging schedule to meet when the project started construction due to half plant outage availability on the pumping units, but they managed to finish on time and delivered great results. We look forward to working with them again in the near future, it is nice to know that we have a good partner in SDB and Rosendin for the CBM project.
I am so very thankful for SDB. I needed to get a clinic open one day after it flooded and SDB fulfilled the job without hesitation. During that urgent time, I didn’t need a “NO” and SDB was able to make my life so much easier.
SDB’s commitment to safety is the cornerstone of all that we do as contracting service providers. We are committed to the safety of each employee and client. This commitment is demonstrated by employing a Risk Management Director and a dedicated Safety Department which is responsible for safety compliance and training. This team is the first to arrive, meet with a client, and the first on a project site to develop a site-specific plan. The objective of our safety team is to advise management and supervisory personnel on safe work practices, supply information required to comply with the company’s safety program and OSHA regulations and to assure that records are maintained and submitted as required.
Employees with occupational exposure are trained in OSHA 10 and 30-hour courses. The Safety Department is run by the Safety Director and employs field supervisors. At each jobsite, a Project Supervisor trained in OSHA 30 monitors for job safety. It is their role to oversee daily on-site working practices, maintain quality and safety compliance, and coach employees to avoid accidents or hazards. Safety officials monitor construction sites to observe working conditions and assure safety practices are being used. Currently, SDB maintains an exceptional Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of .62.
