Angie Schmidt has had construction in her blood for over 43 years. Her father, Dominic Spagnuolo, founded SDB in 1980. Since Angie became CEO, SDB has obtained the Women-Owned Business Enterprise certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. In addition to corporate duties, Angie leads the company’s philanthropic activities and community engagement programs. Outside of SDB, she enjoys, spending time with her husband, 2 grown sons, family, friends, cooking, snow skiing and occasional trying to swing a golf club all while enjoying a glass of wine.
After his graduation from the University of Virginia with a degree in Commerce, Ed Riccio started his career as a CPA with a specialty of serving the construction industry. After attaining his Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and serving as Director of Finance for a semiconductor company, Ed joined SDB in 1999 as Corporate Controller. Since becoming CFO in 2004, his sphere of influence has enlarged to include the legal, insurance, risk management, and human resources aspects of the company.
When he’s not working, Ed can be found playing with his grandchildren, listening to good music, or supporting his favorite teams. And by sports teams we mean any UVA sport, the Tottenham Hotspurs, or America’s baseball team (the Yankees, of course).
As a 16-year veteran managing corporate programs and workplace teams, Craig is located in SDB’s corporate office in Arizona. His operational responsibilities include project controls and corporate risk analysis to ensure the execution of the company’s core values and vision across all operations nationally. Following the blueprints set forth by the Construction Industry Ethics & Compliance Initiative, Craig ensures compliance and ethics while reinforcing SDB’s culture built on integrity. Craig enjoys spending time with family, golfing, skiing and traveling.
John is Vice President of Advanced Technology Division of SDB with oversight of the Southwest, and Pacific Northwest operations. He started his career as a Project Superintendent and worked his way to his current position. John has over 16 years of construction experience in high tech, and commercial facets of specialty contracting.
When not working John loves to cook for family, friends and special events (BBQ is a favorite). Growing up in the Midwest John’s love for hunting, fishing and golf always keep him active, while most of his free time is spent with family and friends.
David has been in the environmental, health and safety field for over 18 years and works with the SDB safety department personnel, project managers and supervisors to advance the common goal of workers returning home safely each day. David performs monthly safety audit walks with project managers and assists with worker training – both key components in facilitating SDB’s “Zero Injury” Philosophy. He is also involved in quality control and other areas of risk management.
David spends his time off boating, fishing, hunting. He can also be found in his shop working on his boat, kids’ cars or other mechanical projects.
As Business Solutions Director, Brad is responsible for the oversight of SDB’s Marketing, Business Development and IT teams. In addition, he manages the development of internal systems that provide innovative solutions to improve processes and build efficiencies throughout the company by leveraging technology.
When not working Brad enjoys playing golf, woodworking and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
As Director of Operations, Derek oversees General Contracting in the Healthcare, Aviation and Municipal markets. His diverse 20 year career has seen everything from site development to billion dollar public bond programs, but his specialties are Design-Build and Healthcare.
Outside of the office, Derek likes to stay active in the gym and on the field and enjoys cooking and entertaining with family and friends.
