SDB provided CMAR services for American Airlines (AA). SDB engaged the architect and design team to facilitate the process of completing construction documents and specifications for the complete remodel of a 27,000 SF interior space. The project involved demolition of all interior spaces including office space, break rooms, restrooms, walls, ceilings and electrical, and subsequently, the rebuild of all utility infrastructure for plumbing, electrical and data cabling. SDB completed the build-out of new offices, restrooms, conference rooms with glass entry doors, operable partitions. Details included ceramic tile wainscot and floors in all restrooms, high-end casework, LED lighting with lighting control system, painted graphic walls, and the addition of state-of-the-art audio/video projectors, room schedulers, screens and wall monitors. SDB worked around the live IT department located within the renovation area by installing an encompassing hard wall with a separate employee-only secure exterior entrance, as well as isolating all of the power and fiber that supported the department. The client needed to accelerate the phased construction, which was accomplished through advanced planning. SDB provided scheduling options and phasing, which prevented AA from leasing temporary office space, ultimately saving AA significant cost. SDB’s self-perform crews and subs worked 60-hour weeks in order to meet the accelerated schedule. SDB’s access to self-perform labor and excellent working relationships with subcontractors and the client ensured the acceleration of the project within budget, allowing AA to occupy the space and realize revenue from the end uses of new tenant spaces.
